Years of life lost to revolution and war in Iran

How was life expectancy in Iran affected by the Islamic Revolution and subsequent war with Iraq? This study examines joint effect of regime change against Iraq on between 1978 1988. If there had been no revolution Iran, how would Iranians have developed? To answer this question, we use a synthetic control model to construct counterfactual based weighted average other comparable countries, which reproduces situation pre-revolution but does not experience war. We then compare expectancies actual that underwent Iraq. Our results indicate an Iranian's total approximately five years longer without The moderate long-term impact at birth, most significant influence being attributed itself, particularly male expectancy. main findings are robust series tests, including placebo tests. investigate possible reasons may explain longevity.
